Stop The Cell Phone Squeeze Resources

On the eve of a critical new wireless spectrum auction, we have reports that the Big Three cell phone giants (who already control almost 94% of the market) are trying to trick the government into shutting independent competitors out of the market. They’re trying to block competitors from being able to use essential wireless spectrum. These giant phone companies are going so far as to use high-priced lobbyists and one is even using a fake grassroots campaign.

If the Big Three succeed, they will:

  • Squeeze independent providers out of the cell phone market.
  • Squeeze Canadians into binding longer term contracts with disrespectful customer service.
  • Squeeze more money out of your wallet every single month through new fees on your bill.

Stop Online Spying Resources

The government is trying to push through an anti-Internet set of electronic surveillance laws that will invade your privacy and cost you money.

This bill will force every big Internet provider to monitor, record and surrender our personal information to "authorities" without a warrant.

These bizarre bills will create Internet surveillance that is warrantless, invasive costly, and poorly thought out. A range of "authorities" would have the ability to invade the private lives of law-abiding Canadians and our families using wired Internet and mobile devices, and the cost of those millions of dollars of spying technology will be passed down to you.

Stop The Meter Resources

Phone and cable companies are putting a pay meter on your Internet use.

We’re looking at a future where big telecom companies will charge per byte for Internet use, the way they do with smart phones. If we allow this to happen Canadians will have no choice but to pay MUCH more for less Internet. Big phone and cable are obviously trying to gouge Canadians, control the Internet market, and ensure that we continue to subscribe to their television services.

Save Our Net Resources

When it comes to surfing the web, the Internet user, not big telecom, should be in the driver's seat. But a handful of companies want a discriminatory or "gatekeeper" network so they can control Canadians' access to the Internet. They have already been caught throttling or slowing Internet traffic to businesses and consumers, blocking access to websites that criticized them and crippling consumer devices and applications.
