Reimagine CBC
The CBC is under threat and it has been for quite some time (faced with tremendous budget cuts, etc.). As a publicly funded organization with a strong social mandate, the CBC has a unique opportunity to take a lead role in this new digital media ecology. So help the CBC innovate by reimagining it as a leader in participatory, creative and engaging media!
What would the best solution be? How do you envision your CBC? You have the power. You have a voice–submit your idea!
A & K attended the soft launch of the campaign, and it was a great brainstorming success! (A HUGE #successica, if may be so blunt -K). Above is one of the textual collages of what a reimagined CBC means to us, or what we picture it to be. Let’s get the ball rolling on this one folks, this is your media after all!

Screening of “(Un) Lawful Access”
Screening of “(UN) Lawful Access” Date: Wednesday October 26, 2011 Time: 2:00pm Place: SFU Harbour Centre, Policy Room 1425 Presented by SFPIRG Action Group, Sfu OpenMedia You’re invited! The social club that advocates for media democracy on campus, Sfu OpenMedia, invites you to our screening of the mini-documentary, “(Un) Lawful Access.” Expert opinions across Canada are given concerning the conservative government’s proposals for cyber surveillance in the omnibus crime bill. Since OpenMedia has achieved over half a million signatures to show opposition to the proposal, the government has since omitted the proposal from this particular crime bill. Who is to say that they will not try to push the invasive proposals in the future? Learn about the severity of cyber surveillance infrastructure (not only privacy rights but rights as a consumer). Start poppin the popcorn, this screening is on!
** THIS JUST IN! Kate Milberry will be joining us for a Q&A session tomorrow! Follow her on twitter here @katemilberry
