Canadian Government Must Take Digital Issues Seriously

Canada needs to engage in more forward thinking digital policy or it will be left behind. This is the point of David Johnson, the president of the University of Waterloo, who claims that Canada needs to step up its game. He stresses that digital issues need to be taken seriously, and compared the importance of information communications technology to that of the printing press. Johnson maintains "the government doesn't appear to understand how important broadband and other information communications technology (ICT), such as mobile phones, are to economic development".
