CBC & Radio-Canada to experience funding cuts

The CBC and Radio-Canada both are expecting to see a cut in funds by $12.6 million. In total, the CBC is expected to lose $8.9 million and Radio-Canada, $3.7 million.

Due to this funding loss, the CBC is warning that it might have to cut down on some prime-time TV shows; these funds were apparently supposed to finance independent television productions.

The CBC might be eligible for more funding come the fall, when the Canadian Media Fund reviews what broadcasters have been putting on the air and what kind of audiences they are bringing in.
