Conservatives to Address Digital Issues

The Conservative government is set to address business concerns regarding the digital economy. Such issues can expand past the business world and impact social and political lives. Tony Clement notes that "the more citizens have a facility to conduct various aspects of their life online, the more competitive that economy is on a number of indicators." To further address this issue Clement explains that "he’ll soon be announcing a discussion paper on the so-called "Digital Economy Strategy," and asking anybody who has a point of view to fire it off to Ottawa — through Facebook, email or Canada Post." However, giving citizens access to only these limited tools will exclude them from a proper means of dialogue regarding digital issues.
OpenMedia's Steve Anderson notes that "we do believe that this document and consultation is important to all Canadians and that all citizens should have the opportunity to both drive the consultation process and to verbally discuss the contents in face-to-face meetings.”
