Take part in People's Summit & G20 Summit via Cable Access Coalition project

The Cable Access Coalition project (run by Smart Change) is dedicated to encouraging and assisting community organizations across Canada to access and utilize their community access cable channels. Smart Change is planning on supplying communities with footage from the following two summits: the 2010 People's Summit and the G20 summit.

Smart Change will be in Toronto for both of these summits. They'll be working with independent media producers and alternative media outlets including Rabble.ca the Dominion Media Coop. They'll also be working with The Toronto Video Activist Collective to package the programming, including the Shout Out for Global Justice for community access cable stations across Canada.

The following is a message from Smart Change...
So far Smart Change has commitments from community activists who are arranging to have this programming played in Nanaimo, Victoria, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw and Swift Current.

How you can get involved
It's easy. All you need to do is form an organization with as little as a few friends or as large as a coalition of local organizations. Then you arrange a meeting with the programmer at your local community access cable station and you tell them that your community organization has programming that you want them to play.

Next join Smart Change, go to the Cable Access Coalition project page and scroll to the bottom where you will see a button to create your own local Independent Community TV (ICTV) group and can invite people in your community to join. We are setting up the Smart Change website to facilitate self-organization around projects within local areas. Try it out and let us know what you think and how we might be able to make it easier for you. If you want to donate to this project you can donate via paypal on the webpage for the project http://smartchange.ca/project/cable-access-coalition "
